Ranch specialist boosts programme as US lifts Covid travel rules

Horse-riding holiday specialist Ranch Rider has expanded its US programme following the lifting of Covid travel restrictions to the destination.

The operator, bought by Frontier Travel in February, said it expected renewed interest in its specialist ranch holidays as a result of the relaxation in entry rules to the US.

It has added two new properties in the US collection: Greenhorn Guest Ranch California and the Burnt Well Guest Ranch in New Mexico.

Marketing director Sandra Potter said: “We are expecting renewed interest in the US and an influx of summer bookings. The opportunity to explore the country’s wide open spaces and that sense of freedom is something we have all been yearning for over the course of the pandemic.”

California’s Greenhorn Guest Ranch is located in the little-known Lost Sierra and is the only tourist ranch in the state that allows guests to go faster than a walk when riding a horse. It also offers fishing, hiking, mountain biking and archery, with six nights from £3,192, excluding flights.

New Mexico’s Burnt Well Guest Ranch (pictured) offers an authentic Western experience, with guests rounding up cattle, checking fences, and helping with branding calves or more general chores.

A seven night-holiday with Ranch Rider costs from £2,977, including flights to Roswell, transfers, accommodation, food and all ranch activities.

The operator pays 10% commission to agents.
