C&M Travel job placements reach record July levels

The number of candidates placed in travel roles in July reached record levels this year, according to figures from C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment.

The total number of travel job placements recorded last month was the highest in July since the index began in 2012, up 149% compared to July 2021, 74% from July 2019, 49% from July 2018, 5% from July 2017 and 8% from July 2016.

The recruitment agency said July traditionally sees a “dip” in activity, but last month’s total number of travel job placements was 5% higher than June 2022 and the fifth highest level since November 2017.

Additionally, last month was the first time vacancies, placements and new candidates all rose compared to the previous month since July 2012.

However, the number of new candidates searching for travel jobs last month was 24% lower than July 2021, although it was 45% higher than July 2019.

Similarly, the number of new travel jobs created in July 2022 was down 19% compared to July 2021, but increased by 14% compared to July 2019.

Managing director Barbara Kolosinska said: “With the summer holidays in full swing, July traditionally results in a dip in activity, but July 2022 actually saw vacancies, placements and new candidates all rise from the previous month.

“This is the first time this has happened since July 2012 and demonstrates the sheer level of demand that the travel industry has for talent at the moment.

“August is usually the industry’s quietest month for recruitment outside of December, so it will be interesting to see if it also defies historical trends, and early indicators suggest that it will be another very healthy month.”
